In the mouth, the glucose from our high-quality honey starts a process called glucose oxidation causing the release of active oxygen. This glucose will be fully converted so no sugar is left to cause any caries. The active oxygen reduces anaerobic bacteria and stimulates the blood flow of the gum, helping wounds to heal faster. The anaerobic bacteria are often the ones that cause dental decay and other oral problems.
Lactoferrin is an anti-inflammatory protein present in many of our own secretory fluids, including saliva. It has great immune-boosting activity. Its anti-bacterial function works because it binds the iron parts that are concentrated around micro-organisms. Additionally, lactoferrin has an anti-viral function and works against fungus and yeasts.
Xylitol is a natural sweetener that is present in vegetables, fruits and birch trees. The xylitol in our products is derived from birch trees. This sweetener has a fresh taste and is good for teeth and gums. It helps reduce plaque because the bacteria responsible for plaque build-up cannot feed on xylitol like they can glucose. It is a low-carb ingredient and has health-promoting characteristics. In addition, xylitol also helps prevent dry mouth.

It’s difficult for me to assess the product. I have a gum problem that required a hospital referral but my hygienist thought that it would be worth trying bluem as part of my daily routine. Basically, the same as what I wrote for the toothpaste which is as follows: “bluem” products were recommended to me by my dentist following a webinar she attended. I have been using the paste and mouthwash for about two months now and I notice a difference in the periodontal disease (I’m a non-smoker with good oral hygiene!!) which I have had for years. My condition was made a lot worse because of the pandemic and not being able to get the 4x a year hygiene appointments which has been my treatment for almost 20 years. Anyway, so far, there has been no bleeding of the gums since using bluem. Both the paste and the mouthwash are pleasant tasting and leave a pleasant, clean mouth feel. Expensive, but worth it, in my opinion. Thank you!

I find the mouthwash particularly useful if my implants feel sensitive and might give trouble. Blue’m settles them again after a couple of days. However, I do find I can only rinse my mouth for about 20-30 seconds because it stings after that.
